Heath Shirey

Hello My Name Is...

Heath Shirey

I am originally from New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.  I attended Clarion University and received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education and my Master’s Degree in Science Education.  I recently returned to school at Gardner-Webb University to receive my Certification in Administration and Leadership.

My education experience includes 2 years of teaching fourth grade with one of those years in a single gender classroom.  My educational career continued at Hartsville Middle School where I taught 6thgrade math for 8 years.  During my time as a teacher, I served as a District Honor Roll Teacher of the Year, MYP Coordinator at Hartsville Middle School, Math Department Chair, TAP Mentor Teacher, BETA Club Sponsor and Assistant Football Coach.

I am excited to step into the role of 6thgrade Assistant Principal and feel honored to lead the hall that I have taught on for the previous 8 years.  I am confident the experience and passion that the 6thgrade teachers exhibit on a daily basis provides the most successful learning environment for our students.

Education is at the heart of my family.  I have been happily married to my wife for 4 year and she is also a teacher in Darlington County School District.  We have one son that keeps us very busy at home.

I believe that all students can be inspired and motivated to be successful.  I am constantly working hard to lend support to our teachers and students to enhance that successful atmosphere.  If I can help in any way, please let me know.  I can be reached by phone at 857-3008 or by email at Heath.Shirey@darlington.k12.sc.us.  I look forward to a great year!
